City releases list of tourism grants

Honolulu officials today announced a list of the projects that will receive a total of $350,000 from state tourism funds on Oçahu.

Mayor Mufi Hannemann released the list of the Hawaii Tourism Authority’s County Product Enrichment Program grant awards for 2010. The money goes to Hawaiçi’s county governments to support events and projects that stimulate and diversify tourism.
Honolulu received 62 applications requesting a total of $1,714,254. Most of the awards were $5,000 to $10,000, although the Mayor's Office of Culture and the Arts received $25,000 to support the Honolulu Family Festival at Magic Island.
“These grant awards help provide residents and visitors with opportunities to enjoy traditional cultural events and unique new experiences,” Hannemann said.
