BOE to keep meetings in Honolulu for 2010

Advertiser Staff

The state Board of Education on Thursday night voted to continue holding all of its general business meetings in Honolulu during 2010, as a cost-saving measure.

The board traditionally has held its twice-monthly meetings in a variety of sites, inclusing the Neighbor Islands. But in May 2009 the board voted to hold the rest of the year's meetings in Honolulu.
A BOE news release said the decision to not hold general business meetings on the Neighbor Islands in 2010 "was attributed to budget concerns." The board will continue to visit the Neighbor Islands for community meetings.
