A man was critically injured Thursday night when he was hit by a vehicle while crossing Kihapai Street in Kailua.

Police said the accident happened near 157 Kihapai St. A man believed to be in his 50s was hit by a white Ford SUV about 7:50 p.m.
Police closed Kihapai Street between Wailepo and Kawainui streets. Police vehicular homicide officers were dispatched to investigate the incident. The road was reopened about 10 p.m.
