Kalaniana'ole Highway will close for Christmas parade

Advertiser Staff

The 11th annual Waimänalo Christmas Parade will take place tomorrow from 9 to 11 a.m. along Kalaniana'ole Highway.

During the parade, Kalaniana'ole Highway will be closed to traffic from Kumuhau Street to Waimänalo Beach Park.

Drivers will have to use back roads to get through Waimänalo during the event, as there will be no contraflow lanes as in previous holiday parades through the community.

The parade grand marshal is Richard Bolo Kahawai, with the state Department of Public Safety, who has worked extensively with the community providing prison working crews to help with cleanups, said Andrew Jamila Jr., parade coordinator.

The event will have 35 units, including Marines, floats, politicians and Santa.
