Decreasing swell postpones Pipeline Masters surf contest

Advertiser Staff

The Billabong Pipeline Masters is postponed today due to a decreasing swell at the Banzai Pipeline off Ehukai Beach.

Only one more day of competition is required to determine a champion, and contest officials have until Dec. 20 to run the final day.

Only eight surfers remain in the contest: Flynn Novak, Kelly Slater, Dane Reynolds, C.J Hobgood, Damien Hobgood, Bede Durbidge, Dean Morrison and Taj Burrow.

Novak, who is from O'ahu's North Shore, is the only Hawai'i surfer remaining.

The Vans Triple Crown of Surfing championship will also be decided on the final day of the Pipeline Masters.

Australia's Joel Parkinson and Florida's C.J. Hobgood are the two contenders for the Triple Crown title.
