Deuce Coon caught three touchdown passes and Lache Seastrunk rushed for 146 yards and one TD on 15 carries last night to help the Mainland defeat Hawai'i/Polynesia, 26-6, in the Aloha Prep Bowl all-star football game at Aloha Stadium.

The game featured a team of Hawai'i all-stars and Mainland players with Hawai'i ties versus a team of Mainland all-stars from 10 different states, mostly in the Deep South, Southwest, East Coast and Midwest.

Coon, a 6-foot, 180-pound receiver from Redemporist High School in Louisiana, caught touchdown passes of 15, 30 and 12 yards after breaking free in the Hawai'i/Polynesia secondary.

On Hawai'i/Polynesia's first offensive play, Leilehua quarterback Andrew Manley threw a swing lateral to Wai'anae's Keoni Napierala-Rose on the left side, and Napierala-Rose launched a bomb downfield to a wide-open London Amorin of Pac-Five.

Amorin was caught from behind and tackled at the Mainland 7-yard line, and after two incompletions and a 4-yard run by Manley, Hawai'i/Polynesia failed to convert a field-goal attempt by Kahuku's Cameron Mercado after a low snap was bobbled.

The series proved to be an omen, as Hawai'i/Polynesia had several scoring opportunities only to mostly come up empty.

Maui High's Elika Laloulu made an interception and 18-yard return on the ensuing series to give Hawai'i/Polynesia first-and-goal at the 10, but the local team had to settle for Mercado's 25-yard field goal that made it 3-0 with 5:12 remaining in the first quarter.

The Mainland took a 7-3 lead after A.J. Derby's 15-yard TD pass to Coon with 8:01 left in the half, but Hawai'i/Polynesia closed to 7-6 on Mercado's 27-yard field goal with 8:42 left in the third quarter.

The Mainland then went up, 14-6, after C.J. Bennett's 30-yard touchdown pass to Coon, and made it 20-6 on Cole Marcoux's 12-yard TD pass to Coon on fourth-and-9 with 8:05 left in the game.

Hawai'i/Polynesia later gained first-and-goal from the 6, but lost the ball on downs after three incompletions and a 1-yard gain.

Seastrunk, a 5-11, 192-pound running back from Temple High School in Texas, then effectively sealed the game with a 60-yard scoring gallop down the right sideline with 3:35 remaining.

Seastrunk, who reportedly has run the 40-yard dash in 4.4 seconds, is the No. 2-ranked running back prospect in the nation, according to www.Scout.com
