Water service restored in Wahiawa, but traffic will be disrupted into tonight

Advertiser Staff

Water service has been restored along Makakilo Drive this morning after repairs were made to a broken 8-inch water main.

However, three lanes of traffic are expected to remain closed into tonight on Makakilo Drive so crews can repave the road following the repairs.
Honolulu police will contraflow the one open lane of traffic.
About 20 homes in Makakilo were without water between 10:46 p.m. last night and 10:30 a.m. today.
Water service also were restored to two business in Wahiawa shortly after 8 this morning following a 6-inch water main break at the intersection of Kamehemeha Highway and Avocado Street.
However, Board of Water Supply crews are still working to backfill the hole and the right-hand, north-bound lane of Kamehameha Highway at Avocado Street (fronting Taco Bell) remains closed.
Taco Bell and L&L Drive-Inn were without water earlier this morning and a water wagon was brought in for the two businesses. The break was reported at about 1:45 a.m.
