Dentist to make $20,000 donation to state libraries

Dr. Lawrence K.W. Tseu, a prominent Honolulu dentist and philanthropist, will present a $20,000 donation to State Librarian Richard Burns for the “Keep Your Library Open!” fundraising campaign at the Hawaiçi State Library on Thursday, the library system announced.

Board of Education Chairman Garrett Toguchi and first vice chairwoman Lei Ahu Isa will participate in the ceremony, which will take place at 6:30 p.m. in the library’s lobby.
Tseu said he has fond memories of using the library often as a young student in the 1940s. He said he would like to encourage others to make a donation to the fundraiser to help keep Hawaiçi’s public libraries open.
The ceremony will be conducted in conjunction with “Christmas is Everywhere,” a free concert presented by the Lincoln Elementary School Keiki Chorus. The 26-member chorus is under the direction of Lorna Badoyen.
