State fines auto junkyard for improper waste system

Advertiser Staff

The state has fined ABC Used Auto Parts LLC $19,800 for allegedly operating an unpermitted solid waste management system at its Pearl City facility.

The company requested a hearing to contest the allegations or order.

The state Department of Health issued a warning letter to ABC Used Auto Parts in February. The state said the company failed to obtain the required permit and continued to operate the system.

In addition to the fine, the department ordered the facility to cease accepting further solid waste, remove all solid waste from the facility, and conduct closure activities.
