Rainbow Wahine hoops team falls to UNLV

The University of Hawai‘i Rainbow Wahine basketball team fell behind early and never could catch up in falling 67-54 to the UNLV Lady Rebels in the semifinals of the Duel in the Desert at Cox Arena today in Las Vegas.

Breanna Arbuckle had a double-double, posting 12 points and 13 rebounds for UH (4-6). The Lady Rebels are 6-5.

Julita Bungaite had seven points and nine rebounds and Leilani Galdones added eight points and four assists for UH.
 
UNLV used a 9-0 run early on to take a 12-5 lead en route to a 23-12 halftime lead.

The Rebels got their lead as high as 54-31.
 
The Rainbow Wahine will face No. 6 Florida State in the Duel in the Desert third-place game tomorrow at 3:30 p.m. Hawaii time.
