GEICO to mark 60 years of doing business in Hawaii

GEICO will celebrate 60 years of doing business in Hawaii at the end of this month .

The Maryland-based insurer wrote its first Hawaii auto policy on Dec. 31, 1949, and opened its first office here in 1980 in Honolulu with 10 associates.
Now there are 170 GEICO employees who handle nearly 130,000 Hawaiian households, according to a news release from the company,
As a member of the Berkshire Hathaway group of companies, GEICO is rated “A++” for financial strength by A.M. Best Company , which is a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway.
