People wanting to make a last-minute contribution to the Marine Corps’ 2009 Toys for Tots Hawaii drive have until noon today to drop off a toy at the Toys for Tots Hawaii warehouse at Dole Cannery in Iwilei.
A couple of hours before the deadline, First Hawaiian Bank stepped up with a $7,500 donation and presented a check today at noon at its Bishop Street offices in Downtown Honolulu.
Toys for Tots Hawaii says the donation will ensure that no family that has registered to receive toys this year gets turned away.
That warehouse to donate toys is on the Costco parking lot side of Dole Cannery at the Makai end (closest to Home Depot).

Volunteers from The Salvation Army, which handles all the toy distribution, will be there from 9 a.m. until noon today. The collection effort must end by then in order to get all the toy donations distributed before Christmas.
As of Monday evening, the drive was nearly 18,000 toys short of its goal of collecting 45,000 toys, all of which go toward Hawaii’s less-fortunate keiki.
The greatest need is for gifts for girls ages 7 to 11 and 11-year-old to teenage girls. Every toy and every dollar collected in Hawaii stays in the state.
