NFL: Bills QB Brohm to start if Fitzpatrick can’t play

By JOHN WAWROW
AP Sports Writer

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — An ankle injury prevented Buffalo Bills starter Ryan Fitzpatrick from practicing, opening the possibility for Brian Brohm to make his NFL debut at Atlanta this weekend.

Interim head coach Perry Fewell declined to rule out Fitzpatrick on Wednesday, saying the quarterback was feeling better after he was hurt in a 17-10 loss against New England last weekend. Fewell did rule out Trent Edwards, after the backup also hurt his ankle last weekend.
Brohm spent a majority of practice working with the first-team offense, ahead of Gibran Hamdan, who re-signed with Buffalo on Tuesday.
Brohm was selected by Green Bay in the second round of the 2008 draft. The Bills acquired Brohm in November after signing him off of the Packers practice squad.
