HOMEGROWN REPORT
Maiava ineligible for bowl game

Advertiser Staff

UCLA starting offensive lineman Kai Maiava (Baldwin '07 of Wailuku, Maui) is academically ineligible for Tuesday's EagleBank Bowl, coach Rick Neuheisel told the Los Angeles Times.

Maiava, a redshirt sophomore, is the team's starting center and will miss the bowl game against Temple at Washington.

The Times also reported yesterday that reserve guard Stanley Hasiak (Kapolei '09) was sent home for personal reasons.

Neuheisel told the Times "it's disappointing" that Maiava and reserve tight end Morrell Presley aren't eligible. He declined comment on Hasiak.
