Nevada football player arrested in Waikiki

University of Nevada-Reno linebacker Andre Davis was arrested Tuesday after allegedly attempting to shoplift items from a store in Waikiki.

Nevada coach Chris Ault announced yesterday that he had disciplined two of his players and that they would not play in today’s Hawaii Bowl in Honolulu.
Ault said he had suspended safety Duke Williams for the game and that Davis had been dismissed from the program.
The school said Williams and Davis violated team and athletic department policy, but the alleged violations were not disclosed in the school's statement.
The Honolulu Police Department’s arrest log shows Davis was arrested about 5:35 p.m. Tuesday at 330 Royal Hawaiian Ave. on suspicion of second-degree theft.
A police synopsis of the incident says investigators were told that Davis took merchandise from the retail establishment without paying for it.
Davis was detained by the store’s security workers and was later turned over to police and was arrested without incident, the synopsis said.
