Two arrested in Hilo robbery

Big Island police have made two arrests in a robbery at Prince Kuhio Plaza in Hilo.

At about 10:18 p.m., on Wednesday South Hilo Patrol officers responded to a reported robbery at a kiosk in the shopping center. Officers determined that a 27-year-old man was assaulted by two male suspects who stole an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing.

The man declined medical assistance.

Police have arrested an 18-year-old Puna man and a 14-year-old boy on suspicion of first-degree robbery.

Anyone who may have witnessed the robbery is asked to call the Police Department's non-emergency line at 935-3311. Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona. All Crime Stoppers calls are kept confidential and callers may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000
