If it seemed like Aguirre was everywhere, she probably was, whether it was setting up a goal or scoring one in Kalani's 2-1 win over Moanalua in an Oahu Interscholastic Association Red East girls soccer game yesterday at Moanalua.

The twin sisters — Andrea, a midfielder, and Sonya, a forward — had a part in both of the Falcons (5-0-1) second-half goals.

"She's mid(fielder), so I just try to be where she, or any mid, plays the ball," said Sonya Aguirre, who scored the game-winner with six minutes left in the game. "It works out, she always tries to motivate me and the team does as well, they push me to get to the ball."

Nā Menehune (5-1-0) scored first on a goal by forward Taryn Mitsuda, who found the net after Moanalua broke up a Kalani attack and cleared the ball long into the 18-yard box, where the ball eventually bounced to Mitsuda, who was near the top of the 6-yard box, in the 12th minute.

Kalani senior forward Ranee Yamada tied it in the 53rd minute after receiving a pass from Andrea Aguirre and beating a defender before sending a high shot over the head of the Moanalua goalkeeper.

Sonya Aguirre scored in the 74th minute off an assist from Courtney Oshiro, who drove to the right end line and slotted it backwards diagonally to Sonya, who put it away with one touch.

"We always practice driving line because it always pulls the goalie," Sonya said. "We keep practicing it because it's effective. When I saw her going down the line I knew I had to put it in. So I just put my foot out and it went in, upper V (the upper corner of the goal)."

MOANALUA BOYS WIN

Moanalua senior midfielder Kelsey Tsutsui scored a hat trick as Nā Menehune responded to a one-goal deficit last night in a 4-1 win over Kalani in an OIA Red East game at Moanalua.

"It was my first one," Tsutsui said. "It feels amazing."

The Falcons (2-1-1) scored first on a goal by freshman Leo Klink, who was set up by junior forward Tye Yamada in the 19th minute.

Nā Menehune (3-0-1) tied it on a header by Tsutsui in the 33rd minute off a throw-in from senior defender Nathan Gima that reached the far.

Tsutsui scored again three minutes into the second half when his leaping volley pinged off the left goalpost and bounced into the goal.

Sophomore forward Bryce Inouye scored the third goal in the 58th minute.

Tsutsui completed his hat trick on a free kick by senior defender Ethan Chang. Tsustui's initial shot hit the goalpost but he followed it up with another shot into the goal in the 66th minute.
