Advertiser Staff

Firefighters are still investigating the cause of a fire on Christmas Eve that heavily damaged parts of a two-story, multi-family home on Paiwa Street in Waipahu.

The fire, which caused an estimated $350,000 in damage to the structure and its contents, started about 10:54 p.m. on Dec. 24.
The fire was under control at 11:15 p.m. and was declared extinguished 45 minutes later.
A total of 13 adults and 9 children, ranging in age from 2 months to 17 years old, lived in the home, but the fire displaced only one family made up of two adults and three children.
The family is staying with relatives.
