High-surf advisory in effect

Advisory-level surf is expected to arrive on north- and west-facing shores of most islands throughout the day, according to the National Weather Service.

The National Weather Service says advisory-level surf is expected to arrive on north- and west-facing shores of Niihau, Kauai this morning and along north-facing shores of Oahu, Molokai and Maui by this afternoon.

The weather service says wave faces of 12 to 16 feet can be expected.
Surf heights along west-facing shores of Oahu and Molokai are expected to remain just below the advisory threshold today.
The advisory remains in effect until 6 tomorrow morning.
