Advertiser Staff

About 15 Honolulu firefighters extinguished a brushfire Saturday night that was believed to have been the result of aerial fireworks.

The fire scorched an area about the size of one-half a football field in a steep gulch about 100 feet below several homes on Ahakapu Street in the Pacific Palisades subdivision in Pearl City, Honolulu Fire Capt. Earle Kealoha said.

There were no injuries and no homes were threatened.

The fire was reported around 9:15 p.m. and the fire was extinguished at 11:43 p.m., Kealoha said.
