HAWAII BRIEFS
Hunter dies after fall in Wai'anae

Advertiser Staff and Wire Services

A 41-year-old goat hunter was pronounced dead yesterday morning after falling 100 feet in the mountains above Ke'eau Homestead Road in Wai'anae.

Firefighters arrived at 10:10 a.m. and used a helicopter to bring the man's body down from the ledge where he landed, said Honolulu Fire Department Capt. Robert Main.

Police say the man, from Kane'ohe, was hunting with a friend when he fell.

Authorities say his hunting partner ran to the edge of the cliff when he heard a tumbling sound and then saw his friend falling. The partner went down and unsuccessfully tried to resuscitate the man.
