Kona man arrested on cocaine-smuggling charge

Big Island police say James Potts Jr. tried to smuggle 3 ounces of cocaine into Keahole-Kona International Airport on Friday.

KEAHOLE, Hawaii — A 46-year-old Kailua, Kona, man was arrested Friday at Keahole-Kona International Airport for allegedly trying to smuggle 3 ounces of cocaine from California.

Police said James Potts Jr. was charged with one count each of promoting a dangerous drug and drug paraphernalia. His bail was set at $3,000.

Police estimated the street value of the cocaine at $6,000.
