Weather: Light showers expected today, Friday

An area of high pressure north of the islands will maintain trade winds through the weekend, the National Weather Service said.

Low clouds and showers carried by the winds will affect mainly windward and mauka areas, forecasters said.

High clouds associated with an upper low southwest of the islands may linger through Saturday.

Here's a closer look at what to expect during the next few days:

Today: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 74. Breezy, with a east wind between 20 and 22 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Tonight: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 66. East wind between 13 and 17 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Friday: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a high near 75. East wind between 13 and 15 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Friday Night: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 67. East wind between 9 and 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Saturday: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a high near 77. East wind around 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Saturday Night: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 68. East wind between 10 and 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
