Weather: Mostly sunny today, showers tonight

Moderate trades will weaken slightly through mid-week, then increase slowly at first before surging to high speeds from Friday night through next weekend, the National Weather Service said.

Aside from lee showers this afternoon, rainfall through most of the week will be limited mainly to windward slopes, although it will increase and spread leeward with the stronger trades.

Here's a closer look at what to expect as another work week begins:

Today...Mostly sunny with isolated showers in the morning...then partly sunny with scattered showers in the afternoon. Highs 75 to 82. East winds 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 40 percent.

Tonight...Mostly cloudy with scattered showers in the evening... Then mostly clear after midnight. Lows 63 to 71. East winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 40 percent.

Tuesday...Mostly sunny. Scattered showers in the afternoon. Highs 75 to 81. East winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 30 percent.

Tuesday Night...Partly cloudy with isolated showers. Lows 62 to 70. East winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Wednesday...Mostly sunny with isolated showers. Highs around 78. East winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Wednesday Night...Partly cloudy with isolated showers. Lows 63 to 71. East winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.
