HONOLULU – The Governor's Moloka'i Community Advisory Council will discuss possible new regulations on the taking of certain near-shore fish when it meets at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, at Kulana 'Oiwi, DHHL / OHA Conference Room, 600 Maunaloa Highway, Kaunakakai. The public is invited to attend.

Bill Puleloa, aquatic biologist, Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) will discuss possible regulations to protect certain marine fish species. DLNR is holding public informational meetings statewide to discuss using minimum sized rules to protect harvested resource fish that may be at risk of being over harvested, and will focus on at least three main fish families that may be in need of updated regulations. They are: Parrotfish (uhu), Goatfish (weke), and Jacks (ulua/papio). The Division of Aquatic Resources has not yet drafted the rule changes.

The members of the Governor's Moloka'i Community Advisory Council are Robert Granger, Janice Kalanihuia, Jersula Manaba, and Marlene Purdy.
