NBA: West to be suspended 1 game for flagrant foul

Associated Press

NEW ORLEANS — Hornets All-Star David West was suspended for Monday night's game at Memphis because of a hard foul that resulted in his ejection against Minnesota on Sunday night.

NBA executive vice president Stu Jackson announced the ruling late Monday afternoon.

The Timberwolves' Mike Miller was driving to the hoop late in the second quarter when West chopped his right arm down over Miller's right shoulder from behind, catching Miller in the face with a forearm. Miller dropped to the floor and remained down for several seconds, but remained in the game with no apparent injury.

After West's departure, the Hornets rallied for a 101-97 win despite also playing without All-Star Chris Paul (groin) and starting center Tyson Chandler (ankle).
