Le Jardin Academy closed Tuesday for water problems

Le Jardin Academy's upper campus in Kailua will be closed for a second day Tuesday because of water problems.

Headmaster Adrian Allan notified the private school community that grades kindergarten through 12 will remain closed.

"The school's water supply has been successfully reconnected," he said. "However, there is a legal requirement to test the school's water supply for contamination before students are allowed to return to the upper campus. This process unfortunately takes a minimum of 24 hours."

Families of students at the Windward O'ahu campus were notified early Monday morning of yesterday's closing because of problems with a water main at the campus which is located off the Kapa'a Quarry Road.

The school's junior school of pre-kindergarten and junior kindergarten will not be affected at that campus on the grounds of St. John Lutheran Church on Kailua Road.

Allan said the rest of the school will re-open Wednesday as long as the water supply checks out.
