Pentagon reports non-combat death of soldier from Maui in Iraq

A soldier from Kahului, Maui, has died in Iraq while supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom, the Department of Defense announced today.

Spc. Christopher P. Sweet, 28, died Feb. 6 in Kirkush, Iraq, of injuries sustained from a non-combat related incident.

He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 66th Armor Regiment, 172d Separate Infantry Brigade, Grafenwoehr, Germany.

The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation.
