FOOD AND WINE FESTIVAL COMING IN MAY

Just when it seemed as though the days of big-production food festivals were waning, the Hawai'i Food & Wine Paradise festival announces its second annual event, "Field of Dreams," May 21-24 in various sites around West O'ahu and Waikiki. Events will include a sort of foodie pro-am golf tournament at Ko Olina Golf Club, pairing chefs and wine experts with attendees; a grazing event at historic Lanikuhonua, a private estate at Ko Olina; a wedding and honeymoon-themed fashion show; a beach barbecue; a closing banquet and a Sunday brunch at Halekulani. Ticket prices: $150 (fashion show) to $500 (golf tournament) for individual events; $1,750 and $750 packages also are available.

The event is the work of D. Keola Lloyd, who created Taste of Kapolei, Kapolei Uncorked and Kapolei Chef Showcase. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to local charities; last year, contributions to local nonprofit organizations came to $150,000. Information: www.hawaiifoodandwineparadise.com; 722-9892.
