Lee earns wrestling honors

Advertiser Staff

Moanalua High graduate Stephany Lee was named Outstanding Wrestler in women's freestyle at last weekend's Dave Schultz Memorial International Open in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Lee, a 2008 World University champion, defeated 2008 Olympic bronze medalist Agnieszka Wieszczek of Poland, 1-1, 2-1 in the finals at 158.5 pounds.

"There are moments where I relax a little bit and I need to stop doing that," Lee, 24, told USA Wrestling. "That's where I get scored on when I relax. I just have to keep battling and not give up the fight. Just when you think they are going to score, you have to keep fighting, and that's how I am. I never stop defending my leg."
