Bishop Museum has received a $1.7 million grant from the Harold K.L. Castle Foundation for upgrades and renovation work at the museum.
The money will be used to restore the museum's Hawaiian Hall complex and upgrade the Richard T. Mamiya Science and Adventure Center.
Timothy Johns, Bishop Museum president and chief executive officer, said the Castle Foundation is one of the largest supporters of the museum.
"This grant is sorely needed and Bishop Museum is extremely grateful to the Castle Foundation for its continued support of our exhibits and educational programs," Johns said.
