St. Patrick's Day just wouldn't be the same without fun limericks to recite during all the festivities.

A limerick is basically a short, humorous poem of five lines with the first, second and last lines — each between seven and 10 syllables — rhyming with each other. The third and fourth lines — each between five and seven syllables — also rhyme.

Think you can pen one? We're looking for family-friendly rhymes to publish in the paper on March 17.

Here's a popular one you may already know:

"Hickory, dickory, dock

The mouse ran up the clock

The clock struck one

The mouse ran down

Hickory, dickory, dock"
