Surf legend Rabbit Kekai to be featured speaker in Chinatown

Advertiser Staff

Surf legend Rabbit Kekai will be the speaker for this month's 3rd Thursday of the month Surf Discussion Series at Chinatown Boardroom, 1160 Nuuanu Ave.

Rabbit was born in 1920; he began surfing at the age of 5 and grew up watching Tom Blake and Duke Kahanamoku surf at Publics. Rabbit is a world-renowned surfer, beach boy and coach.

He is known as one of the first hot-doggers who revolutionized surfing.

To this day you can still find Rabbit in Waikiki; at 89 he is still active in the surf community. The Surf Discussion Series coincides with The Chinatown Arts District 3rd Thursday events.

The Surf Discussion Series creates a forum for people to meet and discuss surfing, culture and life.

The discussion runs from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
