Primo bottles get 'bombucha'

By Mike Gordon
Advertiser Staff

Primo beer will unveil a new, 22-ounce bottle of brew this weekend during its sponsorship of the 250-pound (and up) division — the bombucha division — at the 33rd Annual Buffalo's Big Board Surfing Classic.

Primo says its "Bombucha" bottle "caters those who feel that 12 ounces of Primo just isn't enough."

Primo is sponsoring both the Longboard and Bully Board competitions in the Bombucha Division. Prizes will include a custom Primo longboard and bully board, bottle opener trophies and specially designed T-shirts.

"We noticed that there was increasing demand in Hawaii for a big single-serve package and the Bombucha name was an instant and natural fit," said Kyle Wortham, director of marketing at Primo Brewing & Malting Co.

Don't know what bombucha means? Please refer to the largest marble in your childhood marble collection, the biggest li hing mui in a package or the guy who played center for your high school football team.

Starting next week, the Bombucha will be available at select retail outlets. By the end of February, Bombucha will be sold statewide.
