UH falls to LaTech in women's basketball

The University of Hawai'i women's basketball team committed 30 turnovers today in a 68-56 loss at Louisiana Tech.

Shanavia Dowell had 19 points and 11 rebounds, and Adrienne Johnson added 18 points for Louisiana Tech, which committed only seven turnovers.

Hawai'i's Megan Tinnin recorded her first career double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds. Keisha Kanekoa added 16 points, and Tara Hittle had six points and 11 rebounds.

Hawai'i fell to 5-18 overall and 2-8 in the Western Athletic Conference. Louisiana Tech improved to 13-11 and 6-4.

The Lady Techsters took a 27-12 lead after Sidney Stewart hit a jumper with 4:31 left in the first half.

Hawai'i cut the deficit to 31-21 at the break.

Louisiana Tech put the game away with a 9-0 run to take a 52-32 advantage with 8:14 left.

Hawai'i shot 36 percent and Louisiana Tech finished at 37 percent.

The Rainbow Wahine will conclude their road trip tomorrow against New Mexico State.
