3 teens arrested in robbery

By Curtis Lum
Advertiser Staff Writer

Three males were arrested last night in connection with the Jan. 28 robbery of a Kapahulu liquor store.

The males, believed to be in their mid- to late teens, turned themselves in at the main police station on Beretania Street. A fourth male was expected to turn himself in last night or this morning, police said.

The arrests came within hours after police and CrimeStoppers issued a bulletin and released a surveillance video of the incident. One of the suspects was escorted to the police station by his cousins after seeing the report on television.

The three are suspects in the robbery of the Campbell Stop and Shop on Campbell Avenue. Police said four males entered the store at about 9:30 p.m. and attempted to purchase several packs of beer.

When the cashier asked them for identification, the males became agitated and attempted to flee with the beer, police said. The owner and the cashier tried to stop the males, and one of them punched the cashier in the face, police said.

The four robbers fled and were seen getting into a gray four-door Kia that headed north on Catherine Street.
