No. 21 Utah St. stays undefeated in WAC

MOSCOW, Idaho — Gary Wilkinson had 18 points and 10 rebounds and No. 21 Utah State escaped with a 62-53 victory over Idaho last night to extend the nation's longest winning streak to 19 games.

Jared Quayle added 12 points for the Aggies (24-1, 12-0), who clinched at least a share of their second straight Western Athletic Conference title.

Mac Hopson scored 17 points to lead Idaho (10-13, 4-6), which sought to beat a ranked opponent for the first time since 1982.

Utah State led 24-22 at intermission. Idaho tied it at 44 on Marvin Jefferson's basket, but Wilkinson followed with a 3-pointer to put the Aggies ahead for good.

NEVADA 80, SAN JOSE STATE 68

Junior forward Joey Shaw came off the bench to score 16 of his 23 points in the first half as the visiting Wolf Pack (14-10, 7-4) beat the Spartans (10-12, 4-7) for the 12th time in the past 13 meetings.

LOUISIANA TECH 55, FRESNO STATE 42

Kyle Gibson went 6 for 6 from 3-point range and scored 28 points, and host LaTech (9-15, 3-8) scored 14 points off 17 turnovers to turn back the Bulldogs (10-14, 2-7).

NOTRE DAME 90, NO. 5 LOUISVILLE 57

Luke Harangody had 32 points and 17 rebounds, and the host Fighting Irish (13-10, 4-7 Big East) raced to a 17-4 lead they never lost in beating the Cardinals (18-5, 9-2).

NO. 18 ARIZONA STATE 74, NO. 11 UCLA 67

Derek Glasser scored 15 points, including a go-ahead 3-pointer for a 69-67 lead with 1:12 left, as the host Sun Devils (19-5, 8-4 Pac-10) beat the Bruins (19-5, 8-3).

NO. 19 GONZAGA 72, SAINT MARY'S 70

Matt Bouldin scored 21 points and the visiting Bulldogs (18-5, 9-0 West Coast Conference) held off the Gaels (19-5, 6-4), who closed to 71-70 on Carlin Hughes' banked-in 3-pointer with 9.9 seconds left.

NO. 22 ILLINOIS 60, NORTHWESTERN 59

Demetri McCamey scored 19 points and banked in the go-ahead jumper with 2.9 seconds left as the host Illini (20-5, 8-4 Big Ten) rallied from 14 points down to defeat the Wildcats (13-9, 4-7).

NO. 5 AUBURN 81, KENTUCKY 69

Whitney Boddie had 20 points and 10 assists, and the host Tigers (24-1, 9-1 SEC) led by 20 at halftime in beating the Wildcats (13-12, 3-7).

NO. 24 VANDERBILT 84, NO. 9 FLORIDA 68

Merideth Marsh hit eight 3-pointers en route to 26 points, helping the host Commodores (19-6, 8-2 SEC) snap the Gators' (22-3, 8-2) seven-game winning streak.

NO. 11 MARYLAND 94, NO. 17 VIRGINIA 78

Marissa Coleman scored 28 points and the Terrapins (20-4, 8-2 ACC) rolled past the Cavaliers (19-6, 5-4) for their 31st consecutive home victory.

NO. 15 TENNESSEE 80, ALABAMA 61

Alex Fuller scored 18 points and the host Lady Vols (18-6, 7-3 SEC) beat the Crimson Tide (12-13, 0-10) for the 34th straight time since 1984.

IOWA 85, NO. 18 OHIO STATE 75

Kristi Smith scored 20 points and the host Hawkeyes (15-9, 8-5 Big Ten) made 26 of 32 free throws to upset the Buckeyes (19-5, 10-3).
