Warrior volleyball swept by The Beach

Dean Bittner had a match-high 25 kills to lead seventh-ranked Long Beach State to a 30-23, 31-29, 30-28 victory over No. 10 Hawai'i in Mountain Pacific Sports Federation men's volleyball last night at Long Beach, Calif.

The Warriors dropped to 3-7 overall and 2-5 in the MPSF. Long Beach State is 6-5 and 5-3.

Steven Hunt led the Warriors with 17 kills and seven digs. Gus Tuiniga added 12 kills. Steven Grgas had seven blocks.

The Beach outscored the Warriors 6-1 to break a 21-all tie to win the first set.

UH led 29-28 in the second set, but Long Beach State got consecutive kills by Bittner and one by Josh Riley.

The Warriors were able to close to 29-28 on a kill by Tuiniga, but a Bittner kill ended the third set.

The two teams play again at 5 p.m. Hawai'i time today at the Walter Pyramid.
