No. 2 Oklahoma tops Kansas, 69-54

Associated Press

LAWRENCE, Kan. — For most players, nine points, 15 rebounds and two blocked shots are a fine night's work.

But after No. 2 Oklahoma beat Kansas, 69-54, last night, all Courtney Paris could do was poke fun at herself for that effort.

"I'm devastated," Paris said with a laugh when asked how disappointed she was not to score in double figures. Playing just 25 minutes, the 6-foot-4 senior failed to score at least 10 points for only the second time in her career, and failed to get a double-double for only the sixth time in 124 games.

Earlier this year, her streak of double-doubles came to an end at 112.

"I don't worry about that stuff anymore," she said. "I'm just glad we won."

Amanda Thompson picked up the scoring slack with 16 points as the Sooner (22-2, 10-0) reeled off their 18th straight win and beat Kansas (13-10, 2-8) for the 11th straight time.

"I think Courtney Paris could care less about getting a double-double," Kansas coach Bonnie Henrickson said. "I think (Oklahoma coach) Sherri Coale was our best defense tonight."

No. 6 Stanford 58, No. 3 California 41: Jayne Appel had 22 points and 14 rebounds and the host Cardinal (20-4, 11-1 Pac-10) overcame a 22-18 halftime deficit to snap the Bears' (20-3, 11-1) 12-game winning streak.

No. 7 Baylor 72, Missouri 43: Danielle Wilson had 26 points, 13 rebounds and four blocked shots, and the Lady Bears (21-3, 9-2 Big 12) led from the start in beating the Tigers (11-12, 2-8) at Waco, Texas.

No. 10 Louisville 67, Cincinnati 52: Angel McCoughtry scored 25 of her 33 points in the second half, helping the Cardinals (23-3, 10-2 Big East) turn back the Bearcats (13-11, 3-8) in Cincinnati.

No. 12 Texas A&M 79, Colorado 50: Tanisha Smith had 15 points and 10 rebounds, and the Aggies (19-5, 7-4 Big 12) raced to a 38-16 halftime lead in rolling past the Buffaloes (10-12, 2-8) at College Station, Texas.

Villanova 50, No. 25 DePaul 46: Maria Getty scored 12 points and the Wildcats (17-8, 9-2 Big East) went on a 10-1 run for a 46-39 lead with 4:19 left in turning back the Blue Demons (19-7, 7-5) at Villanova, Pa.

NO. 23 SOUTH DAKOTA STATE 93, UMKC 61: Ketty Cornemann and Kristin Rotert each scored 16 points and the host Jackrabbits (24-2, 13-1 Summit) made 16 3-pointers in routing the Kangaroos (11-13, 6-7).
