Advertiser Staff

University of Hawaii baseball season and individual-game tickets for the upcoming season are on sale.

For individual games, tickets are $8 for the lower and mid levels (formerly the blue and orange). Adult tickets in the upper level (formerly the red) are $6, with senior citizens for $5 and student tickets for $3.

Fans can purchase tickets online at HawaiiAthletics.com, go to the Stan Sheriff Center Box Office (open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., except holidays) or call 944-2697 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Several fan promotions and ticket discounts will be available this season, so fans should visit HawaiiAthletics.com and click on the "Fan Promotions & Ticket Discounts" button. The Rainbows open the 2009 season with a four-game series against UC Irvine at Les Murakami Stadium, beginning Feb. 20 at 6:35 p.m.

Fans attending baseball games at Les Murakami Stadium this season will find most food items reduced 10-20 percent.

"We're just thrilled how fantastic the ballpark looks with the improvements," UH baseball head coach Mike Trapasso said. "The new seats are comfortable for the fans and the playing surface (installed prior to last season) is great for the players. With all of these wonderful improvements, UH baseball is a great experience for everyone."

Seven of nine starters return from last season's squad. Jared Alexander was picked as the Western Athletic Conference's preseason Pitcher of the Year. Catcher Landon Hernandez and relief pitcher Josh Slaats were selected as the preseason all-WAC picks.
