Former Kamehameha Schools star Hoku Nohara of New Mexico State was named the Western Athletic Conference softball hitter of the week, the conference office announced today.

Nohara, a sophomore from Waimanalo, was named to the Troy Cox Classic all-tournament team after leading New Mexico State to a 4-2 record. The first baseman was 9-for-16 with four home runs, six runs and a .562 batting average. Nohara recorded a WAC-high nine RBIs, had two doubles, walked four times and struck out once. She recorded a .696 on-base percentage and was hit by a pitch three times. It is her first WAC weekly honor and New Mexico State is 10-2, the best start in school history.

Tanisha Milca of Hawai'i was nominated for Hitter of the Week honors.

Nevada's Katie Holverson was named WAC Pitcher of the Week.
