Digital Animation Academy offered for youth at Bishop Museum

Advertiser staff

Youth ages 12 to 16 can learn animation techniques at the Bishop Museum's Digital Animation Academy, a week-long course in March that offers lessons on 3D animation software that is standard in the industry for film, television and video games.

The class is being offered in conjunction with the museum's latest exhibit, "Animation." The exhibit allows visitors to explore animation from concept to finished product, including use of storyboards, character design, drawing techniques, movement, timing, filming and sound.

The academy will be held 8 a.m. to noon, March 23 to 27 at the museum. The fee is $150 ($125 for museum members) and the classes are open to children 12 to 16. Familiarity with the Windows operating system is strongly recommended and experience with Photoshop is preferred.

Registration deadline is March 16. To register or for more information, call 847-8296 or email trey.dodge@bishopmuseum.org.
