Rabbit Kekai gives talk at Chinatown Boardroom Thursday

Rabbit Kekai will appear as speaker for this month's Surf Discussion Series at Chinatown Boardroom, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the gallery and surfboard shop, 1160 Nu'uanu Ave. in Chinatown.

The event is one of the Honolulu Arts District's Third Thursday events.

Rabbit Kekai was born in 1920; he began surfing at the age of 5 and grew up watching Tom Blake and Duke Kahanamoku surf at Publics. He is a world-renowned surfer, beach boy and coach, known as one of the first hot-doggers who revolutionized surfing. At 89 he is still active in the surf community.
