Five arrested, one injured in fight at Waianae High

Five people have been arrested following an on-campus fight that put Waianae High School's 2,000 students into a brief lockdown this morning, police said.

Police said about 15 people were involved in the fight. Four males and one female were arrested, all for misdemeanor assault.

Police Sgt. Kyle Yonemura said one person was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

School safety manager Paul Awong said a "whole bunch" had been involved in the fight. "We're trying to resolve the problem," he said.

Several students said the fight may have been related to an earlier fight between two girls. That fight took place across the street from the school, they said.

Candy Suiso, the program director of Searider Productions, said the entire school went into lockdown mode shortly after a scuffle broke out.
