Cab driver safety training session set for tomorrow

Honolulu police and TheCab will hold a training session tomorrow to teach taxi drivers safety awareness and how to avoid being victimized by passengers.

The seminar will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Ward Theatres and is open to all cab drivers.

The session was prompted by the November stabbing of a cab driver who was taking a fare to Manoa Valley from Makiki.

"It's time to take initiative, to educate drivers on what to do," said Howard Higa, president of TheCab. "We want to prevent injuries and to keep cab drivers aware."

For more information or to register, call Higa at 226-0000.
