Weather: Sunny with a few isolated showers

A high pressure area far to the north northwest of the main Hawaiian islands will maintain trade winds across the state through the middle of next week, according to the National Weather Service forecast for Hawaii.

The moderate to locally strong trades will give way to lighter gentler trades over the weekend as the high weakens, according to the forecast.

An upper level disturbance may enhance the trade wind showers Sunday and Monday. The trade showers will be favoring primarily the windward and mountain communities, the forecast said.

Here's how the rest of the work week is shaping up:

Today...Sunny. Isolated showers in the morning. Breezy. Highs around 78. Northeast winds 15 to 25 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Tonight...Partly cloudy. Isolated showers in the evening...then scattered showers after midnight. Breezy. Lows 63 to 71. Northeast winds 15 to 25 mph. Chance of rain 30 percent.

Thursday...Partly sunny in the morning then clearing. Scattered showers. Breezy. Highs around 76. Northeast winds 20 to 25 mph. Chance of rain 40 percent.

Thursday Night...Partly cloudy with isolated showers. Breezy. Lows 61 to 69. Northeast winds 15 to 25 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Friday...Mostly sunny. Highs around 75. Northeast winds 10 to 15 mph.

Friday Night...Partly cloudy. Isolated showers after midnight. Lows 60 to 68. Northeast winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.
