Journey to play 3 concerts in Hawaii in March

By Dave Dondoneau
TGIF Editor

Journey, famous for power ballads like "Don't Stop Believing," "Any Way You Want It," "Faithfully" and "Open Arms," is coming to Hawaii at the end of March to play concerts on Oahu, Maui and the Big Island, Tom Moffatt of Tom Moffatt Productions announced today.

The band's popularity is probably at its highest since it first became big in the 1970s and 1980s when Steve Perry was the lead singer for the group. The renewed interest of late has been sparked by Filipino sensation Arnel Pineda, the group's lead singer who debuted in February 2008.

The band discovered Pineda while watching a YouTube video of Pineda doing Journey covers.

The band's first album with Pineda, Revelation, debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard charts this past June and sold nearly 200,000 copies in the first two weeks.

Journey will perform March 24 at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center Amphitheater, March 26 at the Blaisdell Arena and March 28 at the Waikoloa Bowl on the Big Island.

Tickets for all three shows go on sale Feb. 27 and can be purchased through ticketmaster.com.

For the Oahu show, tickets will be available at the Blaisdell Box Office or by phone at 800-745-3000. There is a limit of six tickets per customer. Tickets for the Blaisdell show are $55, $65 and $75.
