U.S. Sen. Daniel K. Inouye visited students in Justine Fonte's seventh-grade math class at Aiea Intermediate School today as a participant in Teach for America Week. The senator fielded a variety of questions, from what schools he attended (mostly public schools) to his stand on bringing the Pro Bowl back to the Islands (students should start a petition to convince the NFL).

There was a new teacher at Aiea Intermediate School today — U.S. Sen. Daniel K. Inouye.

Inouye's visit was part of the Teach for America Week program, which sends community leaders to underserved schools.

Inouye talked to students about his path in life and answered questions.

Other participants include state Sen. Norman Sakamoto, First Hawaiian Bank President and CEO Donald Horner, Kamehameha Schools CEO Dee Jay Mailer, Office of Hawaiian Affairs trustee Oswald Stender, KGMB9 News general manager Rick Blangiardi and Island Insurance chairman Colbert Matsumoto.
