DEADLINE

Aloha Section PGA Foundation Scholarship Program: Deadline to apply is March 10. The program was established to "encourage and promote the attainment of higher educational goals for high school seniors and current college students who have actively participated in the game of golf and have excelled in their academic achievements."

The program is designed to award one-year educational scholarships. Amount will be determined by availability of funds. Special awards can be granted based on funds and the discretion of the committee.

Applicants must meet the following criteria: Be a Hawai'i resident; demonstrate financial need; must have completed or plan to complete high school by June 30; attend or plan to attend an accredited two- or four-year college or university; and, be a full-time student in a course of study leading to a traditional associate or baccalaureate degree.

Special consideration will be given applicants who have a grade point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 grading scale, are active in school/community extracurricular activities and are pursuing a degree in a golf-related field, such as turf management or golf operations management.

Applications are available on the Aloha Section PGA's Scholarship Program Web page (http://aloha.pga.com) or by calling the section at 593-2230.

The scholarship committee will review class ranking, grade point average and test scores, along with the student's extracurricular activities. The student should be enrolled in college-bound curriculum. Designated honors should be noted.
