Weather: Mostly sunny with a few showers today

A high pressure area will continue to build eastward far north of the state, keeping trade winds blowing across the islands, the National Weather Service said.

Clouds and showers will favor windward and mauka areas, with only light total rainfall expected, forecasters said.

Leeward areas will see a shower or two as well, especially during stronger trade-wind periods.

Here's a closer look at what to expect as we head into the weekend:

Today...Mostly sunny with isolated showers. Highs 71 to 78. Northeast winds 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Tonight...Partly cloudy with isolated showers. Lows 59 to 66. Northeast winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Saturday...Sunny with isolated showers. Highs around 75. Northeast winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Saturday Night...Partly cloudy with isolated showers. Lows 59 to 66. Northeast winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Sunday...Sunny with isolated showers. Highs around 76. East winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Sunday Night...Partly cloudy with isolated showers. Lows 61 to 69. East winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.
